A week after work had started on adding reinforcing grids to the main path from the house the task was not complete. In part that was because of the distraction of the construction of The Manna which was completed on this day.

At around 14:30 the first two photographs were taken. It shows that several more yards had been added since the end of the first day's work. Because the grids were a lot less robust that the original type laid near the Arbour Seat, the technique for laying the grids was different.

As the grids were a lot less robust and less deep it was not practical to lift the turf, level the ground, lay the grid and then push the turf down into the grid and so create an instantly reinforced mowable path. Instead the plan was to fill the grids with chippings, let them rot down and some time later add compost and grass seed and so produce a mowable path that way.

The final image shows how much further the head of the path had reached at the end of the day. No more grids or sand had been laid but another length of edging was in place, more grass had been lifted and a few lengths of tree root dug out.

There were no further photographs taken of the work on installing this second type of grid at the time. It seems that Storm Odette, that hit a few days later, changed the focus of interest.
