A new species is seen

It was 08:30 yesterday morning when I took my usual BBC Weather Watcher picture from the patio doors in the lounge when I noticed a duck I hadn't seen before. I little investigation in my birds book suggested we had wigeon on the lake.
My book doesn't have a colour photograph of the female but describes it as being reddish brown. My photograph doesn't look quite that to me but the bird was certainly paired with the male.
