It was at about 15:20 that I happened to have my camera with me and, for the first time, managed a picture of a holiday maker landing a fish. It was hardly the biggest in the world but, I was told, was rewarding to have mad any catch so soon after casting the line.

Catching a Fish

Earlier in the day, around 13:50, I had made a tour of the grounds and, on the main peninsula beyond the main island, managed to take several pictures of a dragonfly and a butterfly.

I was fairly sure that the dragonfly was a Ruddy Darter and the folk at iSpot agreed. It is a creature somewhat redder than the Common Darter that I had seen on the decking behind Ruston House last year and they are not always easy to tell apart.

Gatekeeper Butterfly

Like the dragonfly I had to do some research to find out that the butterfly was a "Gatekeeper". So this turned out to be another first as it was the first time I had got a photograph of one of the butterflies after which one of the cottages is named.
