This Week's Wildlife Camera Captures
Posted: 11 January 2020
This week there have been Muntjac and Red Deer on the Poor's Allotment as well as a fox captured by the wildlife camera.
The camera has been strapped to a tree 1.3m off the ground for the last couple of nights. It's sited close to the bridge that crosses to the Poors Allotment side of the dyke behind our grounds and this first clip was captured at 16:30 on Thursday.
If we get more like this I shall have to change the setting to capture more than 30 seconds on each clip!
I sometimes have difficulty deciding whether I am looking at Red or Roe deer so thought that I'd add a clip captured by the camera the previous morning at 07:52.
This second clip shows a Muntjac which are reckoned to be around 0.44 to 0.52m tall at the shoulder, whereas the Red is around 1.07 to 1.37m tall at the shoulder Roe are supposed to be around 0.60 to 0.75m tall at the shoulder.
I'm sure I've identified the Red correctly!
Our final clip was captured 02:54 this morning and shows a fox exploring the same small trees seen in the previous clips.
