It was at 08:05 this morning there were a pair of Moorhen chicks outside the lounge window with their mother. I wasn't particularly impressed with the image, but later attempts seemed to show that the youngsters were phenomenally fluffy and it wasn't just an out of focus camera that I was dealing with.
At around 11:45 I was standing on the decking close to the gap through to the cottages and couldn't help but notice how visible the fish were. I'm no expert but they seem to all be Rudd to me, in spite of the fact that not all display the ruddy fins after which I suppose they are named.
Later again, around 13:20, I noticed that the moorhens were still outside. I hoped to get sharper pictures of the chicks, but even in better lighting conditions that was not to be. However, I did get one shot that shows that both mother and offspring are light enough to walk on the lilies.
