Raising the Path to The Manna

It had been clear for a while that when water levels are at their winter norm it would be necessary, to raise the level of the final few yards of the path to the cabin. Early in January the task of doing that began.
A supply of plastic grid had been ordered similar to the two previous examples we had used. The new type was white, rather than a shade of green and was cheaper than the second type we had bought. It was almost as deep as the first but not quite as rigid, though not as flexible as the second type. Like the second example there were no lugs to link the panels together and it had a anti-weed film welded to the underside.
The first step was to lay down some path edging. This was made to fit the new panels. It seems I failed to take any photos of that first step and, judging by the amount of progress made in following sessions, a number of days during which the logs were found and cut to length to fill the space between the edging strips.
This first image was taken at 10:44, and, judging by the progress seen in later pictures, there had been a couple of days work, already done by this stage.
Taken from the other end of the edging within a minute of the previous photo, it can bee seen that the edging extended to the back corner of the cabin.
The final image was taken two hours later. You can see how much further the logs laid between the edging now extended. It involves quite a bit of work, locating and trimming the logs to fit, and ensuring that they are right thickness, tamping them down where necessary so they are as level as possible.
