It's Daddy Goose!

Well that was a surprise!
The egg oiling done earlier was supposed to stop the eggs from hatching, but it seems at least one managed to escape the treatment! Given the date and the fact that Canada Goose eggs take 28-30 days to hatch it looks as if this bird's egg was laid after the oiling.
Yes, today, just after our lunch break, a young gosling was spotted on the lake with "Daddy" goose showing the little one around. "Mummy" continues to sit on the nest.
A little later in the afternoon I managed another image. The ruddy colour of the water is caused by the reflection of the brick and tiles of the cottages.
Later still, I leant over the fence to find the pair just on the other side. Seeing my face "Daddy" instantly took to the water with baby following.
I don't know whether it is good or bad news that we have a gosling. You only have to see the mess on the fishing stand to understand why holiday makers might complain about what the geese leave behind them. (There was much on the stand in the first picture - and most of the rest - when we took possession and we have done nothing to clear it up, so have no idea how long an accumulation what you see represents.)
I guess we now have to wait and see if any more arrive!
