As I write this, some ten years after the event, I'm not quite sure what happened in May 2016 to my usual, if a little erratic, habit taking of pictures of our lake from our bedroom window.

In fact it's not just lake views, I only seem to have picked up my camera twice in the month and that was to take the pictures of the Old Dinghy and the visit by the Swan Family.

It's such a shame that more pictures were not taken over the last six weeks. This is the period when there is the most dramatic change in the growth of everything in sight.

To the left, the dyke is now obscured by the vegetation on our bank. The two four foot high conifers have a brighter green tinge making them difficult to see and, beyond them, you can now easily see the Crack Willow that stands on the bank of the dyke in front of the first of the birch trees.

In the centre of the picture we see the flag iris in bloom and the lake beginning to fill with lilies. Less welcome are the signs of duckweed.

To the right the recently purchased dinghy is on its mooring while the weeping willow shows significant growth with its branches descending towards the boat.
