Construction of the Cabin Path Continues

Perhaps it reflects the better weather that you can expect as you get further into the year but, unlike March, in April I took photos of the progress on constructing the path to The Manna on four different days. The record starts with the first of the new white grids being laid. You'll see that rather than start at the beginning of the raised section, where the path curved, the first grids were laid on the straight section and I proceeded towards the cabin. It seems highly likely that installation of the panels was already in progress before I took my first photos of the month.

This image was taken at 09:17. That suggests that the first grids were laid a day or more earlier and I'd stopped then at the point where I needed to consider how to cut and arrange the grids to make the turn by the cabin.
By the end of the day the first of the wood chippings had been laid. While the manufacturers expect that gravel will be used in the grids my plan had always been to fill the panels with a mix of wood chippings and compost, in which I would sow grass seed. I note that the few old grey panels remained on the veranda at this point.

A week later and the grid panels extend to the back corner of the cabin with chippings filling the grid panels up to the corner too.

It appears that the following day was spent filling the trough between the path edges with twigs. I have learnt that laying a mattress of twigs is a good way of stopping you sinking into soft ground and as, by this point the path did not need to be raised it was going to be a good way of providing a base for the grid panels.

The last picture of the month may not appear to show much progress, until you notice that there is now edging on the cabin side of the path.
