With planning permission for our cart shed granted in March we were free to arrange the build. We decided it might be prudent to have a certain amount of tree pruning done. That took until May to get done, so the build itself finally commenced on 9 July.

David had arranged for someone to lay the few courses of bricks that were to lift the timber off the concrete base. I don't recall it being discussed but it seems that, at that point, it was realised that the pad had been laid too close to the boundary with the cottage's land. Either it was the overhang created by the roof and gutter that meant that the fence had to come down, or perhaps, it was that he felt it was going to have to come down to allow the shed to be stained the traditional black.

It's 12:19 and with the fence down you could see through to the cottage's car park. I imagine there was a fair bit of laying out and testing done to decide exactly how to lay the bricks.

It's now 16:47 and the brick layer is gone. I can't recall why so few bricks seem to have been laid during the afternoon.

Two days later it was Saturday and with work stopped for the weekend we were able to park our cars on the garage base again. Now we were waiting for the timber to arrive.
